GLOBAL Cebu FC returned to its winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Ilocos United FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) last Sunday night at the President Elpidio Quirino Stadium in Vigan City.
Global Cebu FC just needed three first half goals to bounce back from a stinging 1-0 loss—courtesy of a late goal--to Ceres Negros FC in its last PFL match.
Paul Mulders scored the opener after converting a penalty kick in the 23rd minute before Japanese striker Shu Sasaki sealed it with back-to-back goals in the 25th and 30th minutes.
With the win, Global Cebu FC sits at third place with 10 points from three wins, a loss and a draw.
FC Meralco Manila is still at No. 1 with 15 points, followed by this season’s surprise team JPV Marikina FC with 12 points. Kaya FC Makati is fourth with 10 points, behind Global Cebu FC on goal difference.
Global Cebu FC’s next assignment is against Geylang United FC tomorrow night in the RHB Singapore Cup at the Clementi Stadium in Singapore. After its international sojourn, Global will be back in the Philippines to face JPV Marikina FC on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Global Cebu FC’s last match of the month will be against Davao Aguilas FC at the Davao del Norte Stadium in Tagum City.
