GLOBAL Cebu FC advanced to the semifinals of RHB Singapore 2017 after holding off Boeung Ket Angkor FC to a 4-3 aggregate win at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore last Friday night.
Global Cebu FC entered the second leg of the quarterfinals with a 3-1 advantage. The two-goal cushion from the first leg paid dividends as the Cebuano side held off Boeung Ket Angkor FC on a single goal.
Paolo Salenga, who scored two goals in the first leg, continued where he left off with an early goal, in the fourth minute, in his second straight start.
Khoun Laboravy equalized six minutes later, while Paul Omogba gave the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute for a 2-1 win for the Cambodian side.
However, it wasn’t enough to beat Global Cebu FC on aggregate.
Global Cebu FC will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Singapore side Hougang United and Cambodian club Nagaworld FC.
Global Cebu FC will see action today in the Philippines Football League in an away match against JPV Marikina FC before facing Kaya Makati at home on Aug. 19. (EKA)
