ESPIRITO Santo salvaged a 4-4 draw with Sisters of St. Mary following a late rally in their Boys Under-18 match of the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Sisters of St. Mary got a quick start with an early goal by Joshua Catedral in just seven minutes of play. Mark Bejo added another in the 28th, while Elvin Appua made it 3-0 at halftime with a goal in the 44th minute.
Charlton Lawas finally scored the first goal of Espirito Santi in the 54th minute, while Nico Oyas scored a quick brace to equalize, 3-3, following back-to-back goals in the 60th and 63rd minutes.
Neil Arevalo put Sisters of St. Mary back on top with a 64th minute goal. Lawas, however, scored a timely equalizer in the 84th minute to salvage a draw.
Paref-Springdale, on the other had, destroyed Samantabadra, 20-0, in the Boys Under-15 division.
The other matches yesterday at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) and Paref-Springdale were cancelled due to unplayable pitch conditions. (EKA)
