SOFTBALL enthusiasts in Cebu have come together to organize the 1st Talisay City Softball League to promote batted sports to the young generation.
The 1st Talisay Softball League--organized by softball players Dwight Damalerio and Marlon Cabrera--blasted off last Sunday at the East Visayan Academy Sports field in Bulacao, Talisay City with seven teams in its initial offering.
The teams are Maghaway, traditional softball and baseball powerhouse Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT), Campo Dos, Doc Salcedo, Boundary, Shenica and H&B.
Cash prizes will be given to the champion in the tournament sponsored by Talisay City Councilor Antonio Bacaltos and Cebu Provincial Board Member Raul Bacaltos.
In the opening game, SC-SIT showed its composure as it slipped past Maghaway, 10-9, to start its bid on a winning note.
Doc Salcedo, meanwhile, put up a dominant start and earned two victories against Campo Dos, 17-9, and H & B, 11-9.
In the other game, Shenica cruised to a 16-8 win against Boundary.
This Sunday, Shenica will face Maghaway in the first game, SC-SIT slugs it out with Boundary, and Maghaway takes on Boundary in the third game. (RSC)
