DEFENDING collegiate division champion University of San Carlos (USC) hopes to keep its grip of the top spot, while the University of the Visayas (UV) looks to steal the leadership in two crucial matches of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center.
USC faces University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s championship match at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
USC beat USPF, 7-6, in penalty shootout to take last season’s crown. USC also beat USPF, 1-0, in their first meeting this season but the Panthers are on a roll of late, beating UV, 6-0, in their last match.
UV, on the other hand, takes on University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) in the other match at 3 p.m. and will hope to reverse its 2-0 loss in the team’s first meeting.
USC and UV both have seven points and are only separated by goal difference. USJ-R is currently third with six points, while UC is fourth also with six points. USPF is last with five points. (EKA)
