DEFENDING champions Convergys Converters marched to the semifinal round facing the only team that handed them the loss in the elimination round, Accenture Sharks, following an emphatic 94-54 win over no.6 seed Eperformax Reds in the Elite Division playoffs of the 2017 CSCC E-League held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.
Convergys leapfrogged in the opening quarter to post a 30-6 lead and never-looked back to complete a 50-point bashing.
The only time Eperformax outscored Convergys was back in the third period when they managed to score 13 points against the Converters’ 10.
But before the third period, Convergys left the Reds in the dusts in the second period 22-10 and capped with a 27-15 stride in the final period.
With Eperformax focusing its defense in limiting Franz Dysam, Jaime Pacquioa rose to the challenge as he delivered 17 points, Kenneth Dysam added 14, Aldene Batino fired 11 points and Primo Paloma contributed 10 points for Convergys and put the 15 points and 12 rebounds performance of Robert Gilo of the eliminated Reds.
Meanwhile, former Rookie-MVP awardee Sylvester Millevo dropped 32 points and Siegfred Ofonda and Jake Pia added 16 and 12 points each as fourth seed Lexmark Stallions waylaid SupportSave Dragons, 82-69 to take its place into the semifinal round.
Niño Belande’s 25 points, 11 rebounds and Janille Bantillan’s 23 points went for naught as the Dragons were sent packing home, while the Stallions marched on to play against the top seed Teleperformance All-Stars in the semifinal round.
In the Evo League playoffs, the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs and the QBE Generals marched to the semifinal round after beating their respective opponents.
The no.3 seed Contact Solutions survived the second half clawing of Teletech Titans before pulling a 53-48 win while QBE stamped its class following a 67-53 win over the Dynnino Jets. (RCM)
