Thursday, December 14, 2017

ROEL “Akiyama” Rosauro of Yaw-Yan Ardigma escaped a split decision against Alexander Aballe of Yawchedelic MMA in the URCC Fight Night: BETS fight card at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Mactan last Wednesday night.

Rosauro, 29, was the lone Cebuano out of four fighters to triumph in event with a close three-round split decision.

At the start, Rosauro became the aggressor but Abella utilized his ground game to take down the Cebuano warrior.

During the second round, Rosauro tightened his takedown defense and denied his opponent a chance to gain momentum on the ground.

Rosauro connected vicious body kicks in the final round after Abelle switched his approach from grappler to brawler.

Another Cebuano welterweight Joel ‘Watcher’ Jabonero of CALMA MMA-Talisay suffered a crushing defeat in the hands of a more experienced Arvin ‘Asintado’ Chan of Ronin BJJ, who pulled off an arm-lock submission in the first round.

Giovanni Macasling, also from CALMA MMA-Talisay, also succumbed to the power and speed of Benguet’s Ariel Lampacan of Submission Sport. Lampacan unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks from the get go to stop Macasling in the first 40 seconds of the match.

Grappler Arnel Ylanan of Deftac Vagabond Cebu also faltered via unanimous decision to Adonis Sevilleno of Yawsa MMA.

Meanwhile, in the special attraction, former champion Mark Striegl pulled of a unanimous decision victory over South Korean Kim Ki-Sung.

In the other results, Dave Banguingui of Fight Corps clobbered Ariel Olieros of Ronin BJJ; Roque Maha-ay of Catalan Fighting system beat Yong Bin Kwon; and Lucky Mateo of Fight Corps knocked out Charles Sayson. (RSC)
