MARJUN Pantilgan takes on experienced Nicong Calamba in the main event of Big Yellow Boxing Promotions’ “Bakbakan sa Catmon” show tonight at the Catmon Sports Complex.
After losing in a International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth flyweight title fight against Robert Onggocan in June, Pantilgan has bounced back and won back-to-back contests against Delfin de Asis and Noel Aldemita.
The 23-year-old Pantilgan has won five out of six fights this year and hopes to end his year with a win over Calamba.
Calamba has had a good year, winning two of his four fights this year. He is coming off a fifth round stoppage over Jestoni Makiputin.
The two other main bouts will be a brewing rivalry between Big Yellow Boxing Gym and Omega Boxing Gym.
Big Yellow’s Carlo Demecillo will lock horns with Omega’s Jay-Ar Aliasot; while Big Yellow’s Clyde Azarcon (10-1, 4 KOs) slugs it out with Omega’s RR Borbon (5-1-1, 5 KOs).
Following two straight losses in Japan last year, the 21-year-old Demecillo has bounced back with back-to-back wins over Jason Tinampay and Jomar Ministerio.
Aliasot, who hasn’t lost in two years after suffering his only defeat with a fifth round stoppage of Joe Tejones, is fresh from unanimous verdict over Ryan Bongcawil. (EKA)
