ONE-TIME world title challenger Geje Eustaquio gets another crack at a title along with a chance at redemption against former champion Kairat Akhmetov for the interim ONE Championship flyweight belt in a rematch on Jan. 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
Eustaquio fought Akhmetov last September with the Kazakh walking away with a close split decision win.
Both Ahkmetov and Eustaquio are at the top of the flyweight ladder. Both are eager at another crack at current flyweight king Adriano Moraes.
The 28-year-old Eustaquio of Team Laky fought against Moraes for the vacant flyweight belt in 2014. He lost by a second round submission against Moraes.
Akhmetov, on the other hand, challenged Moraes and dethroned him by a split decision.
The 30-yeat-old Akhmetov, however, lost to Moraes in their rematch last year by unanimous decision. Eustaquio is 9-6, while Akhmetov is 24-1.
Former title challenger Josha Pacio, also from Team Lakay, squares off with unbeaten Thai Pongsiri Mitsatit in the show’s main supporting bout. (EKA)
