ELITE riders from here an abroad have enlisted in the first leg of the Asean MTB Cup 2014 slated on June 13 to 15 in Danao City.

After nine years of absence, the Asean MTB Cup returns to Danao and with just a week left before the race starts, 73 riders from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Germany, and USA. While more than 100 local riders from Manila, Butuan, Davao, and Cebu have also registered.

Race heats up for Karter of the Year honor

AFTER two legs in the 2014 Kartzone Superkart Series, Vince Rojo bolstered his chance for the coveted Karter of the Year honor as he topped the first leg last April 27 and second leg last May 25 at Kartzone race track in Panagdait.

Rojo, the last year’s KT novice class champion, joined this year in the KT expert class. Early on the karting season, he is leading in the KOY series points with 107 total accumulated points-- 55 points in the first leg and 52 points in the second leg.

In the men’s division, it was an all Kenyan-show as Kenyans emerged as the top three finishers. Kenyans were led by Simat who crossed the finish line in 33 minutes and 30 seconds, Douglas Mwiti clocked 33:59 to take second place, and Abraham Missos came third in 34:50.
