CEBUANOS once again stood tall as the poomsae squad snagged 35 medals in the 2013 National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships last Sunday in Manila.
The Cebu poomsae squad, mentored by national team member Glenn Lava and regional taekwondo chairman Tony del Prado, grabbed 16 gold medals, nine silvers and 10 bronzes.

The Cebu City Invitational Cup is a fund-raising project of the Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) and Enya Ideals, and is backed by the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Sports Commission. It will be held on Nov. 7-9 at the Cebu Coliseum.

INSTEAD of resting, we took a tour of the nearby medieval town of Brugge. We walked around the beautiful town and took a boat cruise on its famed canal. I knew I would pay for it (weaker legs) the next day during the marathon. We arrived back in Brussels around 7 p.m. and the couple brought me to the iconic “Manneken Pis” fountain at the city center before having our pasta dinner just beside the hotel.

MARY Grace Delos Santos and Mary Joy Tabal took the top two spots in the 16.8 King of the Road (KOTR) in Malaysia yesterday.
Delos Santos defended her title in 1:03, beating Tabal (1:04), who won the 2011 title. A Thai runner got third place in 1:06. In the men’s category, Eduardo Buenavista settled for second to another Thai runner.

AN ATHLETE from Bohol seems to have fallen off the radar and to top it all, the tremors do seem to stop that people could no longer tell if it is the main quake or an aftershock.
Because of these, as a precautionary measure, the Milo Little Olympics National Finals, which was supposed to be held this weekend in earthquake-hit Cebu, will be moved to Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

THE delay in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament is expected to affect the schedules of the regional tournaments of the 2013 Philippine Collegiate Champions League.
According to NCAA commissioner Joe Lipa, action in the oldest basketball tournament in the country is expected to end by mid-November yet.

The Coffee Mixers bounced back strong by taking Game 4, 88-86, last Friday to reduce the long series to a best-of-three affair. Game time today is set at 4:45 p.m. with neither team enjoying psychological edge.

MARVIN Sonsona’s career revival is on the right track as he joins the World Boxing Council (WBC) World Cup.
Sonsona, the former World Boxing Organzation (WBO) super flyweight champion, is slated to face unbeaten WBC Baltic featherweight titleholder Ayup Arsaev of Russia. The WBC website reported that they will fight in the first round of the featherweight tournament on Dec. 6 in Moscow, Russia.
