Drawn from international hit movies (read: the ideas), makeup artist Gari Son experimented on the key elements of each movie that could easily be adapted by women, from morning meetings to after-six soirees.
If you think it’s a little too detailed, that’s fine. After all, fashion is fantasy; that is, you can take all the things that can make you beautiful. By all means, please.
From eyes to lips, they’re detailed here. Read on, or shall I say, welcome to Hollywood, baby?
Chicago
The story: As singer Roxie Hart fashions herself out to be America’s latest sweetheart, Velma Kelly (a vaudevillian) has more than a few surprises in store for her. Arguments rise as the two women stop at nothing to outdo each other in their
obsessive pursuit of fame and celebrity.
The look: Red lips to match the monochromatic effect of the eyes and faux lashes that could create more drama as they open.
Keep the bob hair classic: hair to the cheeks, full bangs down.
La Vie En Rose
The story: From the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York, Edith Piaf’s life was a battle to sing and survive.
Edith’s magical voice and her passionate romances with the greatest names of the period made her a star all around the world.
The look: Red lips, of course, but put on some hair accent to emphasize her stage presence—fascinator, perhaps? Or you can add some feathered or draped hats to make it contemporary.
Poison Ivy
The story: When Daisy Brookes headed for college, she found herself thrust into a clique of young femme fatales known as Ivy Society. With even the dean among their ranks, Daisy’s only hope for survival is to put an end to these bad girls’ treachery before she becomes one more victim.
The look: Straight hair is in. You’re lucky if you have those locks; others would even fake it with hair extension. This hairstyle simply gives effortless seduction to match the dark lips.
Pocahontas
The story: Set in the settlement of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607, the story tells the romanticized tale of English settler Captain John Smith and the famed native American heroine, Pocahontas, who saved him.
The look: Go Bohemian chic with beaded bands and feather neckpieces. Since Pocahontas is a native princess, look for fringe or one-shoulder dress in neutral tones such as beige, chocolate brown, cream, or taupe.
