Tomas invites Pacman

BOXING hero Manny Pacquiao was invited to sing during the Sinulog grand parade finale on Sunday, but Mayor Tomas Osmeña says he’s still waiting for a confirmation.

This, as he asked the public yesterday to bear with traffic woes because of the Sinulog.

He said the City will plan what to do this Sunday when traffic is expected to worsen.

He gave the advice during the packed Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan yesterday afternoon, which likewise caused heavy traffic at the downtown area.

Also, the mayor said that he invited Pacquiao, through Cebuano boxing promoter Wakee Salud, to join the grand parade and sing for the Cebuanos.

He said that because his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been derailed, Pacquaio might have the time to wow the crowd with his singing prowess this time.

The mayor, though, said that he has not gotten any response yet.

Aside from boxing, Pacquiao also sings and has appeared in movies.

During Osmeña’s 61st birthday July last year, Pacquiao came and sang a few songs for him, to the delight of the crowd.

“He can sing whatever he wants,” the mayor said when asked on what choice of songs he prefers Pacquiao would belt out for the people at the grand stand.

With this year’s Sinulog billed as the grandest—2010 being its 30th staging or Pearl anniversary—the mayor considers Pacquiao’s presence an added attraction.
