Top drivers gear up on Dec. 8-9

THE year opens with engines revving up as the best drivers of Cebu race against the best from out of town in the Cebu Auto and Racing Show (Cars) at the newly-opened Park Mall at the Mandaue Reclamation Area.

Cars will start with a car show on Jan. 8 and 9 inside the mall and a sound-off competition on Jan. 10 outside.

There will be a test run for karting and autocross at the improvised race tracks at the back of the venue.

Launching

Organizers Happy Kittil-svedt-Calatrava, Ingrid Marie Mejia, and Genieve Serafica formally launched the event last Sunday night with a press conference at Pier One Restaurant.

The Autocross competition will feature the Stock and open Category where David Lim, Randy Paray, Peterson Lim, and Jess Garcia are hoping to hold their ground against eight drivers from Davao City.

Cebuano karters will be competing in the novice and expert divisions of the KT 100 class.

Organizers confirmed that the KT 125 and Cadet 60 races are yet in the process of consideration.

From 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday is the scheduled practice runs for go karts and autocross, while the qualifying runs will start from 1-5 p.m. for karting and autocross.

From 10-12 noon on Sunday is the Autocross semifinal runs, 1-3 p.m. is for the first and second heats of karting, 3-4 is scheduled for the autocross finals while the final heat of karting is from 4-6 p.m.
