Toral: Money from Facebook games

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

WHO says playing games is a waste of time? Well, it depends on how you approach it like in the case of Jam Mayer-Flores (http://jammayer.wordpress.com).

In the industry, she is known as the entrepreneur behind ProFora Professional Webinars and whom I regularly contact to support my webinar requirements.

However, what a lot of her friends don't know is she makes money playing Facebook games too.

According to Jam, she started playing games for leisure and searches for information about the games she is interested in.

At one instance, she encountered a website giving tips on how to play a game. As she knew a bit more about it, she shared some tips in the community and gave a link pointing to her blog post.

Soon enough, the owner of the website contacted her asking if she will be interested to write about gaming tips for specific Facebook games.

When the client got impressed by the content and turn-around time, she was asked to write Facebook game guides and walkthroughs.

At first, Jam was reluctant about having her friends know about her "sideline." However, in my conversation with her, I thought what she is doing is something she should be proud of.

Playing a fun Facebook game and getting paid for it can be one of the coolest jobs anyone could have. So for Facebook gamers who would like to follow Jam's path, she gave some suggestions.

She said one should not just play the game, but also write about it. "This can be in your own blog or popular Facebook gaming sites that feature tips about these games. Focus on topics that are not yet featured in gaming sites but which you think fellow gamers will find very important."

"If you write well, your work can be noticed and you may find yourself being offered an opportunity to earn while playing the game," she added.

Writers of Facebook game tips can earn from US$2 and above per game tip. They can get higher fees for game guides and walkthroughs.

Of course, it is up to you as the writer to decide how much you are worth and this is something you have to negotiate with whoever is trying to hire you.

Jam also recommends the setting up of a Paypal account.

Otherwise, it will not be helpful for you to seek for writing assignments of this nature if there won't be a way for you to get paid. Jam's "sideline" is only a month old and she is very much enjoying it.
