A TOURISM academy for the residents of San Remigio is one of the plans of San Remigio Beach Club.
“In towns like San Remigio, it is very difficult to gain a good education. I was born there. That is why I know how it feels to strive for a better life and push for a college degree. This is the reason we are conceptualizing this tourism academy,” said Antonio Ynoc, president of San Remigio Beach Club.

The academy will provide six months training on tourism-related work like housekeeping, bartending and food handling. The students will then have their internship in the beach club.
After training, they will be able to work in Cebu City while gaining a bachelor’s degree or earning a living for their families.
Ynoc was hailed by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) as the “Countryside Entrepreneur of the Year” in 2009.
The academy is just one of the many plans of the resort, which also include building a children’s library in the resort and a new pool overlooking the beach, and making the resort a business destination by providing Internet accessibility and business facilities.
Established in 2002, San Remigio Beach Club (SRBC) caters to both local and foreign tourists. Its 80,000-square-meter property has 51 rooms with modern facilities. It also boasts of a more-than-400-meter beachfront and various recreational facilities.
The company recently invested P8.5 million for additional dormitory rooms and two convention centers that can accommodate 400 people.
Community
When asked about its service to the community during the 3rd episode of Coffee Break at CCCI, Ynoc said: “We give seedlings to the community, and we have planted around 8,000 seedlings inside the watershed handled by the Pangi Water Service Cooperative.”
This service is in partnership with Blaze Manufacturing Corp. of the Mactan Economic Processing Zone. SRBC monitors its plants and replaces those that have withered.
For five years, SRBC has also been sending children to private and public high schools in San Remigio and neighboring areas. It supports 100 students per year, 25 of whom are in private schools.
It also provides uniforms for 50 elementary school children in San Remigio. It has adopted the San Remigio Central 2 School in Tambongon by providing it with books, computers and sports facilities.
