THE University of the Visayas men’s team picked up its second win in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) collegiate volleyball after defeating the University of Cebu, 25-22, 28-26, 25-20, 25-18, yesterday at the Aznar Coliseum.
UV and UC encountered several deadlocks before UV, led by Jade Becaldo, knocked UC out.

Making things harder for UC was losing one of its spikers Rico Ramirez, who was injured after trying to go for a block.
“We don’t know yet if he can still play for the rest of the season,” said teammate Hendryl Simeon.
UV coach Benjie Arreglo said he was happy with how his players performed inside the court despite the fact that they only have four senior players. The rest are mostly freshmen and new recruits from the Governor Cup.
“During the first set, my team was still adjusting and good thing they were able to adjust in the second set and from there, they were able to pull of,” Arreglo said.
Arreglo, who was a former utility spiker for UV, said he hopes to make it to the final this year. He added they could have played in the final last year, had the walkout not happened.
UV was one of the three teams that walked out in last year’s semifinals.
“We will make sure na wala nay mahitabo na walkout this year,” Arreglo said.
