Barauidan, 30, allegedly shot jeepney dispatcher Junel Ruiz, 24, near SM City Cebu last Tuesday evening due to arguments over business territory.
Arrest
Barauidan was arrested after 20 tanods of the UB-7, assisted by members of the Mabolo Police, P/Chief David Señor and Insp. Erlando Metante.
With Barauidan’s arrest, Ruiz and his relatives can now push through with filing charges against Barauidan.
Apas Barangay Chief Ramil Ayuman, who is one of the barangay chiefs who created UB-7, told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that Barauidan’s arrest was the result of the cooperativeness of the seven barangays under the group.
UB-7 is composed of barangays Apas, Mabolo, Carreta, Luz, Hippodromo, Kasambagan, and Banilad.
Launched
Ayuman said that on Tuesday night, UB-7 was formally formed to address peace and order in the barangays, for human development, partnership development, education and economic development.
Ayuman said UB-7 will serve as a united police auxiliary force that will help the local PNP in conducting saturation drives and road checkpoints.
Ayuman said he was glad that Cebu City Councilor and peace and order chairman Augustus “Jun” Pe and Cebu City Vice-mayor Michael Rama have committed on providing them with resources.
