“I’M A big McLaren-Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton fan,” says 21-year old Singapore girl Sheralynn Jega about herself, “that’s why I really wanted to be one of the 2009 Singtel Grand Prix Grid Girls.” And so she was, becoming one of the twenty to be chosen to escort the race car drivers around the paddock and starting line.
In her case, however, she only went on Race Day, or Race Night, if you think about it, the Singtel Grand Prix being the only night road race in the Formula One series.
Lucky for her, she was instructed to carry the start flag, and stood at the starting line, right in front of, you guessed it, Lewis Hamilton himself. “Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Doll singer and Hamilton’s girlfriend) even winked at me!” she confesses.

In town for the opening of her brother Sheldon’s restaurant, The Coriander, she travels between Singapore and Cebu frequently, and is considering spending the summer here in Cebu. A design student at the LaSalle College of the Arts in Singapore, she is majoring in Image and Communications, and is planning to become a public relations professional when she graduates.
Sheralynn is quite a popular model in Singapore, it seems. She was a finalist in the Miss Earth Singapore 2006, and in 2007, was sent to Shanghai to represent her country in the Elite Model Look Asia Pacific contest. The same year, Sheralynn was one of the top five girls in Singapore’s New Paper, New Face, a local modeling competition. She’s also done some television commercials, her latest being a commercial for International Woman’s Day, which is being aired on the Hallmark Channel.
According to Sheralynn, she doesn’t have a boyfriend; unfortunately, guys, she is not available, preferring to focus her attention on her studies and work. Aside from work and studies, Sheralynn spends a lot of time with her pets.
She says “I have a mini-zoo at home!” enumerating the animals she keeps: two Siberian Huskies, a couple of Maltese and Spitz crossbreeds, two cats and several Koi. She reminisces “I used to have 17 cats!”
Like most young ladies, she also enjoys going out, professing a love for clubbing. She loves listening to most kinds of music, but prefers trance and house music. Asked about how she lives her life, Sheralynn exclaims “Work hard, but play hard too!”
