‘It's Pacquiao by knockout'

MIGUEL Cotto may be the bigger and younger fighter when he trades punches with Manny Pacquiao for his WBO welterweight crown on November 14 (November in Manila), but this does not guarantee him of a victory.

Instead, it will be Cotto who will suffer an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Pacquiao, according to boxing promoter Alexander Wangkay.

"He is an easy target and when he comes in, Manny Pacquiao will pepper him with power shots. Pacquiao will win this fight by knockout inside five rounds," said Wangkay, mayor of Jose Abad Santos who is more popularly known as Zander Khan.

Wangkay said Pacquiao's speed is simply too much for Cotto and that he does not see the Puerto Rican negating the Filipino boxer's advantage when it comes to quickness.

"Cotto, if he can land that power punch, can hurt Pacquiao. But I don’t think he can hit Pacquiao. The Filipino fighter will simply move in and out while hitting the Puerto Rican with big shots," Wangkay added.

Christopher "Bong" Go, Davao City Mayor's executive assistant, also does not see Cotto prevailing in the showdown dubbed "Firepower."

"It's Pacquiao in eight rounds. He is simply overpowering in terms of speed and power," Go told Sun.Star Davao.

Pacquiao and his entourage were expected to arrive in Las Vegas Tuesday from Los Angeles for the final push of his blockbuster clash with Cotto, a natural welterweight.

Pacquiao, who hails from General Santos City, is gunning for world boxing history in the cominf fight as he tries to become the first boxer in the world to win a title in seven different weight categories.
