43 gun ban violators arrested in Central Mindanao

A TOTAL of 43 people were arrested in Central Mindanao for violating the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections since January 10.
Chief Superintendent Josefino Cataluña, regional police director, said a total of 16 violators were arrested since February 4 in Cotabato City, 10 in North Cotabato, nine in General Santos, five in Sultan Kudarat, three in South Cotabato and one in Sarangani.

A total of 34 violators are now facing charges of illegal possession of firearms while the rest are still undergoing investigations.
A total of 41 firearms were confiscated, including 25 high-powered rifles, 16 handguns, six bladed weapons and a hand grenade.
Cataluña said they are strictly enforcing the gun ban in the area to protect the security of the voting public during the coming elections. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
