I KNOW for a fact that there are lots of students nowadays who do not give importance to their studies. They argue that an A+ on their transcript of records does not reflect their future since their diskarte would take them to where they want to be.
While it is true that your grade would not be the deciding factor of how you will land a good job, if we look at it closer, studying is more than just "studying". It is actually a reflection of a person's diskarte.

It is supposed to be a part of your diskarte to build up your knowledge and increase your intellectual stock. A person with true diskarte knows how to manage time well in order to beat project deadlines.
Diskarte is lost on a person who wastes precious time goofing around then cram up for another quiz tomorrow and tell everybody "tutal diskarte naman ang importante, 'di grado".
Valuing your studies would also show how deep your character, endurance, and perseverance is. It doesn't necessarily mean that an A+ is just reflective of your smarts because it also tells about your personality towards work.
On another note, academics also give you a feeling of achievement not only for yourself but also to those who actually pay for your tuition. I believe that it is through valuing the academics that a student can make worthy all the hard work and pains that his or her parents had to go through for him/her.
Sometimes, we tend to forget to appreciate the sleepless nights that our parents have to suffer just to send us to the school that we are in right now. Aren't we supposed to study hard as well to compensate their sacrifices?
I must also point out that a student with a good transcript would have a better place in whatever field he or she may want to be in. Normally, one of the first things that an employer would look at is the transcript of records.
The higher the grades, the better. It is a reality that no one can ever change.
Gaining the upper hand in looking for a job by increasing intellectual capacity wouldn't be a bad idea after all. I am not saying though that it is only the academics that determine the totality of a person.
What I am arguing is that the academics that many students take for granted is more than what it seems. It's time to think twice.
How important is academics to you?
