ALL eyes were on Steve Jobs on September 1, 2010 as he unveiled new products from Apple. At the center, the ones that got the most ooohs and aaahs are the new Apple iPod products.
On top of the list is the 4th generation iPod Touch. This new iPod Touch is not just an iPod Touch. It allows video calling. Yes, you read that right: video calling! The 4th gen iPod Touch can make a video call to another 4th gen iPod Touch or to an iPhone via WiFi.

The iPod Touch also has two cameras, one in the front and one in the back. The camera can record videos in high definition. And with just a few taps and clicks using the iMovie for iPod Touch, it allows the user to instantly make their own high definition video.
And the best new feature of the 4th gen iPod is Retina Display. The pixel density of the gadget is so high that you can’t see the individual pixels anymore. That means clear and sharp images and crisp texts. This also means a better gaming experience, of course.
The 4th generation iPod Touch 8 GB is sold at $229 or P12,490; the 32 GB is sold at $299 or P15,990; and the 64 is sold at $399 or P21,990.
For those who want a more compact iPod, Apple has re-designed the iPod nano. With a just 1.5-inch color display, it is smaller and sleeker. It has an anodized aluminum finish available in seven bright colors.
The best thing about it? It now comes with the Apple Multi-Touch interface for ease of use. You can use this technology to build, shuffle, and edit your own playlists. Or you can listen to FM stations with the nano’s built-in FM radio.
It has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can handle 24 hours of non-stop play.
The suggested retail price for the 8 GB model is $149 or P7,990, while the suggested retail price for the 16 GB model is $179 or P9,790.
And retailing at just $49 or P2,490, the iPod shuffle is nothing to sneer about. The new iPod shuffle comes in polished aluminum available in five bright colors. It features Apple’s VoiceOver technology which makes navigation and playlist creation easy.
From the super-charged iPod Touch with Retina Display and HD video capability to the sleek iPod nano and the compact iPod shuffle, it is apparent that Apple the iPod line is not just a fad or a fleeting fancy. With better designs and more beefed up technology, Apple’s iPod line stays current and relevant to audiophiles and technophiles alike.
