THE Philippine Army vowed to rescue Corporal Dominador Alegre who was snatched by New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Monkayo, Compostela Valley on November 2.
Major Medel Aguilar, spokesman for the Army's Task Force Davao, said the Army "cannot leave our comrade in arms in the hands of blood thirsty communists who brag about killing defenseless civilians and unwary soldiers and policemen."

Aguilar made the statement after the NPA claimed that the military is hindering the safe and immediate release of Corporal Alegre due to their continued military operations.
"If they are afraid of our military operations, then they should stop killing and harassing civilians. They should stop extorting from ordinary people and private companies, and they should release all the people they abducted. Takot pala silang tugisin, mangidnap pa sila," Aguilar said.
The Army major also urged militant groups to call on the NPA to stop its nefarious activities.
"Dapat ang panawagang ito ang sabihin ng mga militante at hindi ang nakakatawang salita na binitawan ni Ka Simon," Aguilar said.
Alegre was snatched by the rebels last week during a raid in a military patrol base in Barangay Casoon. The rebels also carted away 18 firearms from the armory of the said detachment. (BOT)
