Basti's Brew at 10

AN ICONIC coffee landmark already in Davao City, Basti's Brew turns a decade old.

Members of the local entertainment and lifestyle media were there to witness the event at their branch in Legaspi street. It was a coffee and pizza party showcasing the shop's delectable pizza menus which the store would be pushing this year.

Named after the son of Bong and Des Aportadera who were among the incorporators of the store, Basti's Brew began by offering simple but great-tasting coffee and food.

As word spread, the coffee shop has built a solid and steady clientele who aside from going for their famous cappuccino would love to gorge on their sumptuous porkchops and sandwiches.

"Admittedly we were hit by the crisis, there was a dip in performance but in spite of it we're still doing good," Randall Ong, one of the Basti's partners says.

One of the factors, he says, is that their clients and regular customers still would try their other offerings and menus. And with the sprouting of new coffee shops in the city, Randall says that Basti's would strive on their pioneering status.

"I think we built a name for ourselves already," he said.
