Lao says he has been looking forward to joining the competition as he enjoys putting things together in the name of fashion. Lao runs Sophie's Damit located at Ponciano Street, Davao City.

Don-don Maceren

A gown made of a heavy textured gold brocade with fuchsia medallion patterns, gold and olive green by seasoned designer Don-don Maceren was hailed as the second placer.

The neckline accentuated with an iron-crafted collar, studded with swarovski crystals and pearls. A head piece with cascading floral accents and trailing veil puts together the whole ensemble.

Though armed with years of experience, Maceren continues to join SM' competition as an act of cooperation with the new and budding designers. He also claims that SM has been a good venue for exposure as he attracts new clients from during the events.

Fuji Jimenez

A silk cloth Mecada serpentina gown by Fuji Jimenez also made it to the top three. Craftsmanship was spelled with the cutout lace, cut beads and translucent rainbow sequins used as embellishment to the simple yet striking dress.

This entry of Fuji represents the purity of the Filipinas.

This year is Jimenez's 2nd year to join the competition. He started as a beadwork artist and later on learned the art of designing.

Practicing fashion designer for five years, he began as an in house designer for Garrimon Roferos Haute Coutoure. He is now a free lance artist. Early in his career, he has been exposed to other design competitions of SM Davao -- Urog Etnika and Moda Mindanao, where his works were among the winners.
