THE search of the "Entrepreneur of the Year" themed "Shine" by Ernst and Young -- professional service firm in the United States -- now accepts nominations.

In Wednesday's Club 888 forum, Alvin Pinpin, SGV and corporation partner in charge, said: "Filipino entrepreneurs have what it takes to be at par with other entrepreneurs in other countries."

He said there are at least two entrepreneurs from Mindanao included in the list of nominees and this event will not only showcase an entrepreneurs' profitability, but also to show others how a Filipino entrepreneur handle its people, inputs of the business does on specific community and innovations it has generated.

"Every entrepreneur has equal chance of winning," Pinpin noted.

The five categories for this year's award are Master Entrepreneur, Small Business Entrepreneur, Woman Entrepreneur, Tourism Entrepreneur and Social Entrepreneur.

The selection of nominees will be shortlisted from their financial data ranking system and afterwards schedules of interviews will be done along with their contact references that include the entrepreneur's lawyers, auditors, PR firms and more.

Judges are people from the government, academe and the business sector. Their identities are kept confidential until the awards night.

Since its introduction in the Philippines in 2003, the Entrepreneur of the Year program has become one of the most prestigious events for the country's business community.

Since Tony Tan Caktiong, president and CEO of Joliibee Foods Corporation, was awarded the first the Entrepreneur of the Year in the Philippines others followed suit from Visayas and Mindanao.
