AN ON-SITE sale of at least P30 million is expected to be generated in this year's staging of Manufacturing Technology Davao (MTD) exposition, which is set to open at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Hall on Thursday.

Patrick-Lawrence Tan, chief executive officer of Global Link MP Events International, the organizer of the annual event, said last year's on-site sale was pegged at P22.9 million.

"We see a 15-20 percent increase in on-site sale this year," Tad said, adding the number of exhibiting companies for the 5th staging of MTD this year increased to 100 from 67 last year.

Tan said exhibitors, which are mostly foreign, will showcase their latest products and services during the event that will provide visitors the latest energy saving technologies used in manufacturing and production as well as form new business partnerships.

"Exhibitors will showcase their latest products available in the market. These are hard-to-find products, technology and machineries critical for the expansion and growth of the manufacturing sector," Tan said in Monday's press conference at Villa Margarita Inn.

The expo is a one-stop shop for business needs and will be a huge benefit to entrepreneurs in the Mindanao area, Tan said.

He said the expo offers free product demos, big on-site discounts on machinery and other products, great franchising opportunities and the best possible business deals on site.

The three-day expo, which will be concluded on Saturday, will feature the most comprehensive display of manufacturing machinery, products and technologies.

The exhibiting companies from around the country will represent products and services from 24 countries worldwide and will be in town to display their latest products and services at the event, according to the press statement.

"There will be new exhibitors this year from the food, printing industry and office technology," Tan said.

The expo is expected to attract various leading manufacturers, plant production managers, purchasing officers, suppliers and retailers from all inter-related industries.

"We expect at least 6,000 visitors this year compared to the 4,000 visitors last year. This is so because a lot of good things are happening this year," he said.

One of the highlights of the event is a two-day technical seminar for printers, set on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on May 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 3/F Conference Hall (Mini Theater).

The seminar will cover topics such as How Rubber Rollers Can Affect Your Profitability by Eddie Cobankiat, general manager of Hicor Mfg. Corp.; Proper Handling of Thermal Plates Excellence on CTP and Processor by Arci S. Calamanan, product specialist; Pre-press Consumables and Fault and Remedy for Press by Adria Litonjua, press application specialist of Heidelberg Phils. Inc., respectively.

"The printing industry is growing at least 15% annually. It is not easy to shift to a paperless society. There are no innovations that are worth replacing the printing industry yet," he said.

This is the fifth year Davao City is hosting the show.

The previous expo saw quality trade visitors and buyers flocking the displays of the companies. The 2011 edition is anticipated to surpass its past achievements.
