Dabawenyo cited as this year's Emerging Entrepreneur

MAKATI CITY -- Davao-based entrepreneur Ferdinand Maranon is this year's Emerging Entrepreneur. The president and chief executive officer of Sagrex Corp., a company that exports microwavable frozen saba banana, was given the award during the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines 2011 last October 12.
One of the core businesses of Sagrex is the Sagrex Foods, Inc. which pioneered the commercial production of frozen banana products under the brand Golden Saba.

The innovation continued with the production of Filipino favorites like banana-fries and turon, which were packaged to be frozen and microwavable.
Sagrex also started the production of unpeeled whole banana, saba sausages, and saba burger patties.
Currently, the products of Sagrex Foods, Inc. are exported to the Middle East, United States of America, Taiwan, Korea, and Australia.
Aside from Sagrex Foods, Inc. Maranon is also engaged in the distribution of fertilizers, micronutrients and other agricultural inputs, and polyethylene foam production.
Maranon also established a company in Cavite in the 2000, Betafoam Corp., which is engaged in the production of packaging materials for electronic companies.
