THE Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) Southern Mindanao Region obtained its biggest increase in income last year and was also the No. 1 in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) assistance in the country.

HLURB regional director lawyer Roberto Mauro Miguel Palma Gil announced the good news to his hardworking staff during their recent Christmas party held in Davao City.

The HLURB regional office almost tripled its income by earning a total of P11,159,112.99 last year after only making P4,767,037.25 in 2010.

"I am truly proud of my staff and congratulate them for their hard work and great performance," Palma Gil said.

He also cited the increase in monitoring in field and non-field assistance.

"We also had achieved our greatest percentage increase in income collection as against expenses with savings," Palma Gil said.

Palma Gil, son of former Davao Oriental Governor Maria Elena Palma Gil, still wants to improve their outstanding performance in 2012.

He wants the regional office to increase in the monitoring of projects without license and collection of fines imposed. He also aims to increase the collection of fines and penalties of monitored projects.

But he said his office will still continue to effect cost cutting measures like scheduling of trips of personnel from Planning Registration and Licensing Division and Monitoring and Adjudication Division.

The regional office will also print draft communications and letters on scratch paper and dot matrix.

"We will continue to hold our assessment meetings during the monthly birthday celebrations of the staff," Palma Gil said.

Palma Gil added that he will also lead his staff to become more physically fit by participating in the different sports activities

HLURB is the government agency responsible for regulating housing and land development under the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council chaired by Vice President Jejomar Binay.
