AN INCREASE in the prices of canned goods looms in Davao City following the hike in the prices of the basic commodity in Manila last week, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao City field office said.
DTI city director Teolulo T. Pasawa, speaking at the weekly Club 888 Forum at the Marco Polo Hotel Thursday, said they expect traders in Davao to impose an increase in the coming days.

Teolulo said while they expect an increase in the prices of canned goods, they already noted a hike in the prices of cement by five percent in the city, based on their monitoring last Friday.
He said traders and retailers have imposed a P10 hike in cement prices per bag and that their monitoring teams are regularly going around checking prices of other basic commodities.
Meanwhile, the DTI regional office will conduct a seminar on "Doing Business with the United Nations" at the Grand Men Seng Hotel on February 24.
The seminar is being held in cooperation with the Bureau of Export and Trade Promotion and the United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD).
Pasawa said they have invited around 50 businessmen to attend the seminar where they will be briefed on the business opportunities and the procurement activities of the UNPD.
"We advise them to register early and to confirm early," Pasawa said.
The UN is a huge market for products like food and catering, motor vehicles, parts and transportation equipment, automotive and automotive parts, eletronic data processing equipment and maintenance. (CRAM)
