OVER 200 professional tour guides from different parts of the country and top officials of the Department of Tourism (DOT) converged in Davao City for the three-day National Tour Guides Convention.
In the general assembly Monday at the Apo View Hotel, Danny Nazareno, charter president for the Philippine Federation of Professional Tour Guide Association, said all tour guides organizations across the Philippines will mark another milestone to attain proactive, service and development-oriented professional members for this year.
"We have adopted the framework for the standard of our conduct for our clients, our practice, profession and partners," Nazareno said.
He also emphasized that a licensed tour guide has the responsibility to attend to the highest standards in terms of dealing with clients for sustainable tourism.
The executive also enshrined areas wherein tour guides must strictly observe while in the business. They are research, practice, presentation, and service.
The three-day activity started June 16. To see the different tourist spots of the city, the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Davao took the group to Malagos Garden Resort and Philippine Eagle Association, to name a few.
DOT-Ilocos Director Martin Valero and DOT-Central Visayas Director Rowena Lu Montecilla also attended the convention.
The next convention will be held in Ilocos Norte next year. (ALC)
