THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCII) will conduct a trade mission to Turkey in September this year to further promote the city's industry.
DCCCII president Dr. Maria Lourdes Monteverde said she will bring a delegation from the city of about 40 traders from the different sectors.
"We're going to have one (trade mission) in Turkey together with the Turkey Chamber of Commerce," Monteverde said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao Friday.
The Turkey trip will also mark the beginning of a chamber-to-chamber sister agreement, according to Monteverde.
Representatives from different sectors such as agricultural, construction/real estate, business process outsourcing (BPO) among others will be joining in the mission.
The DCCCII president said through the mission the city will become more adept at sustaining its economic growth. The trade mission will last for a week.
"When we talk of sustaining the growth, we have to do trade missions outside Davao," Monteverde said, referring to the possible influx of investments that may come with the initiative.
Monteverde said there is an increasing global demand on agri-business, especially on coconut.
"Coconut is always there. We've come up with an innovative idea on the product design like coco water and coco sugar," she said.
Monteverde said the cacao industry improved this year as well.
"We're the only direct exporter (of cacao) to Belgium in the country," she said.
