THE Business Process Outsourcing Association of Davao Inc. (BPO-ADI) will hold an exclusive job fair for the local applicants of contact centers in Davao City in August this year.

In an interview during the 1st Quarterly Business Encounter of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc (DCCCII) at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao Friday, Marinita del Monde, representative for BPO-ADI, said around 2,000 to 3,000 jobs will be opened in the jobs fair in August for both fresh graduates and unemployed individuals.

BPO-ADI has partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Davao Region in staging the fair.

The executive also said the jobs fair will be participated in by more than 15 local big and small contact centers in the city.

Del Monde also encouraged Davao applicants to participate, as the holding of the fair is intended to give them a venue to meet directly the companies' employer.

Among the big contact centers that committed to participate are Cyber City Teleservices, Concentrix, Sutherland Global Services, Six Eleven Global Services, Global Connect eSolutions, Sycore Business Solutions, and AM Solutions Global Bridging, Inc.

Del Monde said successful contact center applicants in August will be subject for scholarship program at TVI Training Center.

She said the scholarship will include a two-week training course that will be funded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

Tesda in Davao allocated P10 million for contact center agents and medical transcriptionists for this year. The scholarship is also a strategy of the government to give employment, as scholars will have employment at the end of the training course.

"This is open for everybody in the region," del Monde said.

She urged fresh graduates to also avail of the scholarship grants, as this will be offered until November this year only.

"If there's remaining amount in the fund, it will be returned to the government," del Monde said. (ALC)
