THE Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) has accredited a total of 15 Davao-made export quality products under its Davao Branding Project since 2007.

DCCCII Davao branding specialist Kathy Kyle Tupas said the accreditation for the quality export products of the region has been running for five year now.

"Our accreditation is based on international standards. So, if there are products accredited by our office, it will give them more advantage," Tupas said in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao on Saturday.

The 15 products are mostly agricultural and processed foods, although the accreditation is also open for cosmetic products.

Tupas said that out of the total number of accredited products, eight came from Davao City, four from Davao del Sur and three from Davao del Norte.

She said there are three Davao-based companies applying for accreditation for their cosmetic products. They are RDL Pharmaceutical, Davao Bioskin Tech Laboratories Inc, and Angel Sue.

The awarding is slated either next month in time for DCCCII's Davao City Business Conference or during the Davao Trade Expo in October this year, according to Tupas.

Tupas said some of the guidelines are good manufacturing processes and good agricultural practices for agricultural and processed goods.

Meanwhile, Tupas said cosmetic companies in the region must comply with the Asean Cosmetic Directive (ACD) in order to get accreditation.

"ACD is the process Southeast Asian countries do for the cosmetic products," she said.

Tupas added that this project aims to bring the products of Davao to the global market, considering that the technical working group that conducts the inspection on processing plant and practices in the packing facilities follows international standards for accrediting export quality products.

"We aim Davao brands to be known in the world market," Tupas said.

She said accreditation costs P5,000 and will last for three years. After which, renewal of accreditation is required to check if the products are still of good quality.
