A NEW shopping center offering mostly imported goods will open in Davao City in the last quarter of this year.

Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) head Jason Magnaye said the shopping center S&R will be nestled in a two-hectare land area along Maa Road, fronting the NCCC Mall Davao.

"It's like a modular type infrastructure. Really like a warehouse," Magnaye said.

Executives of the S&R arrived in the city early this year to discuss their development plans for Davao with Mayor Inday Sara Duterter, according to magnaye.

He said one of the conditions is for shoppers to become members to be able to shop at the S&R. The shopping center sells both local and imported goods.

Membership has two classifications, gold and business membership. Any individual can apply for gold membership while those owners or managers of licensed businesses can avail of the business membership.

S&R sells a variety of products from foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry, beef, and pork, and cosmetics, tools, appliances and housewares. It also sells premium wines and liquors to its shoppers.

Magnaye said S&R will not be in direct competition with other establishments like NCCC Mall since it has its own target market.

The shopping center will cater mostly to upper class while other shopping centers in Davao City have varied target market from lower, middle and upper classes.

S&R has branches in Cebu City, Pampanga, Alabang and The Fort.
