TOUR operators in Davao City are seeking to revive the Davao City-Hong Kong and Davao-Singapore air connectivities.
Dabaw Tourism Operators Association (Dabtoa) president Chato Aranda, speaking in yesterday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City, said the city had previously air connectivities to those international destiation but just wasn't sustained due to low load factor.
Aranda said they are positive that load factor will not become a problem anymore in opening new flights as the local market is continuously growing.
"That's what we're asking from the tourism sector," Aranda said.
She said Cebu Pacific's launching of its maiden flight from Davao to Puerto Princesa, Kalibo, and Aklan last week was a full-boarded flight and that it was a good indicator that the local market is becoming more matured.
Meanwhile, she also announced that a total of five airline companies will participate in the three-day Mindanao Travel and Tour Expo that will offer low fare rates on August 17 to 19.
"What I can assure is that they will offer low fare rates," she said.
Aranda said because of the opening of this new route, Cebu Pacific is expected to have bigger sales in the expo. The other airlines that will participate in the expo are Philippine Airlines, Zest Air, Air Asia Philippines and Airphil Express.
Some 60 exhibitors from all over the country are expected to participate in the tourism and trade expo.
Aranda said the promotion of the Department of Tourism's slogan, "It's more fun in the Philippines," helped ignite the local market's interest and that they become more appreciative to the tourism destinations within the country.
