Apo View's Kadayawan Fiesta showcases rich Davao culture

DAVAO City's premier hotel, Apo View Hotel, gears up for another colorful celebration of the Kadayawan Festival as its lines up a series of activities showcasing the local culture.
Now on its fifth year, Apo View Hotel will hold Kadayawan Fiesta at the Apo View 2012 from August 6 to 19, a two-week event showcasing the authentic artistry and richness of culture not only of Davao City but Mindanao as well.
There will be cultural and dance performances, floral and fruit exhibit, jewelry making and even fire dancing presentation at the hotel -- outdoor and indoor.
The hotel will also stage the weaving of a Dagmay fabric by a true member of the Mandayan tribe and display ethnic-inspired creations of Davao's top homegrown designers.
Top executives of Apo View led by general manager Wolfgang F. Pfuner and Juliet Pamintuan held a press conference Tuesday to announce their activities.
Pfuner said they are now enjoying more than 90 percent occupancy rate.
The 27th Kadayawan Festival kicked off last week and is expected to draw more local and foreign tourists as the celebration goes on until the end of the month.
Apo View is one of country's three oldest hotels.
Meanwhile, Pfuner said they will be staging the real Octoberfest at the hotel soon where a band from Munich, Germany will be coming over during the celebration. (CRAM)
