Corn production in Soccsksargen valued at P15.6B

KORONADAL CITY -- The value of corn produced in Soccsksargen Region last year reached a staggering P15.6 billion, a regional Department of Agriculture (DA) official said.

Zaldy Boloron, DA regional corn program coordinator, said in the 130-page "Regional Corn Roadmap CY (Calendar Year) 2012 to 2017" presentation that corn production volume in the four-province, five-city region last year was 1.20 million metric tons (MT), up 2.63 percent from 2011's 1.2 million MT.

BPI posts P8.4B income in Q1

BANK of the Philippine Islands (BPI) continued to deliver sustainable growth as it reported a net income of P8.4 billion for the first quarter of 2013. This was 43 percent higher than last year’s P5.8 billion.

At the end of first quarter, BPI's total resources were P940 billion, 16 percent higher year-on-year as deposits grew by the same rate to P748 billion. In addition, the Bank was able to increase its assets under management to P758 billion or 6 percent more than same period last year.

Sweeter future awaits Mindanao's coco sugar

Soccsksargen still top coffee producer

DA-Davao allots P3.5M for 'cash for work'

Contractors told to renew license

THE Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (Pcab) has called on contractors to renew their licenses soonest to avoid rush, delay and penalties.

Vista Land net income jumps 29%

VISTA Land & Lifescapes, Inc., the country's largest homebuilder, announced that the company's net income for the first quarter of 2013 compared to the first quarter of 2012 rose by 29 percent to P1.342 billion from P1.036 billion.

Revenues were P4.86 billion for the first quarter of this year compared to the P4.02 billion realized during the comparable period last year.

PH exports rice from Mindanao

THREE metric tons of aromatic and organic black, brown and red rice is being exported to Hong Kong in a ceremonial send-off in Tefasco Wharf on Wednesday.

Terminal collection down in first quarter

THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) reported a decrease in revenue collection in the first quarter of 2013, but noted an increase at the beginning of second quarter.

DCOTT officer-in-charge Edgardo Colvo said they posted a revenue collection of P4.910 million from January to March this year, which showed a slight decrease from P4.934-million collection during the same period last year.
