A WORLD-CLASS hotel is the latest addition to Davao Region's flourishing tourism industry.

Located next to SMX Convention Center at SM Lanang Premier in Davao City, the eight-storey, 204-room Park Inn by Raddison is basically established to address the consistently growing tourist arrivals in the region and, at the same time, to supply the projected huge demand for hotel rooms as the city is refocusing its direction toward becoming the next Mice (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination in the Asean sub-region.

"We will be working closely with the corporate and conference (and other events) organizers. We are next to the biggest conference center in Mindanao, so these segments of the market are basically our target," Geir Sikko, Park Inn's general manager, said, referring to SMX Convention Center.

He expressed optimism on the potential of this market, considering that tourism players in Davao City have been exerting relentless efforts to promote the city as Mice destination.

In fact, the city is hosting the Mice Conferene 2013 this week and the Advertising Congress -- the biggest gathering of entrepreneurs, business enterprises and advertisers from various industries -- in November, this year.

"We are here to serve this market," Sikko said in an interview Friday. He expressed confident their target market will continue to grow "because Davao City is booming and growing."

"If businesses thrive, there will always be demand for hotels," he said, as he welcomed new players in the industry.

"It is better that intenrational brands, such as ours, are coming (to Davao). We are here to bring in the demand and supply," he said.

Even as this developed, Sikko said they are unfazed by the competition as he assured their prospective clients that it would be much easier to do business with them.

"We have a very simple pholosophy: to make things easy for our guests, easier to do business with us. We will continue to provide them with colorful concepts (that will satisfy their needs)," he said.

He also vowed that in dealing with the competition, "we just have to do our jobs and serve the people as best as we can and deliver what we have promised."

Also taking advantage of their location, just beside Mindanao's biggest shopping mall, the SM Lanang Premier, Sikko said they are looking at the leisure market, especially those visiting the city during weekends.

The hotel executive also vowed a stay at Park Inn is very affordable, saying these are comparable to the rates offered by the city's premier hotels.

"We are a mid-scale hotel, so we don't offer a five-star rate. We only provide five-star services," he assured.

Park Inn by Radisson Davao, the first NexGen Park Inn by Radisson in Asia Pacific, will have its formal opening on March 25.

It has its soft opening since February 25, and according to Sikko, the business is really doing good.

Park Inn by Radisson is Carlson Rezidor's internationally successful mid scale limited service concept, focusing on delivering the modern essentials of a great hotel experience that resonate with today's savvy travelers.

Park Inn by Radisson is a segment-leading brand with a 26 year track record of delivering a quality guest experience. It is also one of the fastest growing brands in EMEA and is expanding rapidly in the US, Canada and Asia Pacific.

Designed to suit the needs of business and leisure travelers, Park Inn by Radisson Davao has 198 standard rooms and six junior suites that deliver a great night's sleep in a clean, personalized environment.

Guests can expect vibrant decor, complimentary in-room high speed Internet, as well as the signature “Adding Color to Life” service concept that aims to exceed expectations.

The hotel also offers the best venues for successful meetings.

With smart services and smart rooms, including four meeting rooms that can each accommodate up to 30 persons, the hotel is the smart choice for both formal and informal meetings and events. It also has a recreation hub on its second floor, which houses leisure facilities such as the swimming pool, fitness center and pool bar.

In addition, the hotel's The Living Room concept provides guests with a lifestyle hub where they can socialize and relax in the spacious Lobby area or enjoy a book and other media.

Food and Beverage options at the hotel include RBG (Restaurant Bar & Grill), a hip all-day dining restaurant. RBG is a bold new bar and grill concept that delivers buzz and ambience, great food and friendly service in a modern setting.
