THE Philippines' largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific (CEB) flew more than 3.53 million passengers from January to March (Q1) 2013, an increase of 5 percent compared to 3.37 million passengers in the same period last year.
Seat sales, increased routes and flight frequencies and sustained promotions paved the way for the following international passenger growth: Brunei (43 percent), South Korea (34 percent), Malaysia (18 percent), China (15 percent) and Indonesia (13 percent).
CEB also grew its domestic passengers to and from Zamboanga (17 percent), as well as hubs in Davao (20 percent), Kalibo (22 percent) and Iloilo (29 percent).
"Cebu Pacific continues to link islands and countries, and provide lowest fare options so everyone can travel by air. Passenger growths in countries such as Korea and China, as well as regions like Iloilo and Davao, are particularly fulfilling. We remain focused on driving tourism to and within the Philippines in 2013," said CEB vice president for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.
Iyog cited that with CEB's extensive route network, travel between Visayas and Mindanao grew by 13 percent, while travel within Mindanao grew by 45 percent. CEB launched multiple flights from Iloilo, Davao and Cagayan de Oro in the 4th quarter of 2012.
CEB is also slated to launch flights from Cebu to Masbate (June 1, 2013) and Taipei (July 5, 2013), as well as the airline's first long haul flights from Manila to Dubai (October 7, 2013).
For bookings and inquiries, guests can go to www.cebupacificair.com, or call the reservation hotlines (02)7020-888 or (032)230-8888. The latest seat sales can also be found on CEB’s official Twitter and Facebook pages.
Those still booking flights may also sign up to be a CEB Club member through the Cebu Pacific website, for seat sale alerts, easy management of flights and travel funds, and a faster booking process.
CEB currently operates 10 Airbus A319, 25 Airbus A320 and 8 ATR-72 500 aircraft. Its fleet of 43 aircraft is one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2013 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 17 more Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft orders. (PR)
