Danny urges CTO to step up tax collection-A A +A

DAVAO CITY Councilor Danilo C. Dayanghirang said Monday that there is a need to increase tax collection in the city to address the increasing demand for social services.
"I notice there is a very strong pressure on the part of the city mayor to really deliver services given with the limited funding of the city. Demand for social services is very high," he said during the Kepehan sa Dabaw at the SM City Davao Annex.
One factor that trigger the increase in demand is due to the increasing number of migrants who are entering the city.
He cited as an example that when these migrants, who are coming from places as near as Tagum and as far as Bukidnon gets sick, they don't have other option but to seek for assistance at the City Hall. "What we need now is to pay taxes and for the City Treasurer's Office (CTO) to collect more," Dayanghirang said.
As of press time, the City Hall is preparing supplemental budget number two. Once it is done it will be passed to the City Development Council for approval.
Once it reaches the City Council, Dayanghirang said he will look into it and see how the treasurer collects taxes and see ways to increase the collection.
