A CITY Hall official on Tuesday said the two seats intended for business representatives in the Davao City's Investment Incentive Board are expected to be filled in two weeks time.
"We will be having a board meeting in the next two weeks. During that time we will be having an oath taking ceremony of the new two business sector representatives," City Investments Promotion Center officer-in-charge Ivan Cortez told reporters.
He said that Lafayette Lim of NCCC Malls has been tapped by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to fill in one of the two seats, but the mayor has yet to release his appointment papers.
Cortez said the mayor is also looking for one who will fill in the other slot.
Bert Barriga used to be the lone business representative in the investment board. But during the term of former Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the Investment Incentive Code was amended, providing for two representatives, instead. The term of the business representatives also ends when the incumbent mayor's term ends.
"They will be the voice of the business sector. We want to have a balance between public and private sectors in the board thus the creation of another slot." said Cortez.
The rest of the members of the board includes: City Administration, City Planning, Committee on Housing, Ruling, and Urban Development Chairperson, Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry chairperson, Committee on Finance, Ways, and Means Chairperson, Department of Trade and Industry city director, President of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., Private sector co-chair of the Davao City Tourism Council, Philexport Chairperson, and Chairperson of the Davao City Cooperative Development Council.
