Consular corps launched-A A +A

THE Consular Corps of the Philippines-Davao Chapter (CCP-DC) was officially launched in Davao City with the induction of officers at the Lotus Court, Marco Polo Hotel on Saturday.
Inducted as dean of the Davao chapter is Consul General of Indonesia Eko Hartono, while honorary consul of Mexico to the Philippines Maria Lourdes G. Monteverde and Consul General of Malaysia to the Philippines Abdullah Zawawir Tahir were inducted as consular secretary and consular treasurer, respectively.
"We believe in the CCP in enhancing the coordination efforts and in sharing the experiences and knowledge among different countries that would in effect boost trade and economic activities," said Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in his message delivered by Councilor Antoinette G. Principe-Castrodes.
He said that through this collaboration, CCP is fostering among diplomatic corps of the Philippines and the Asian region to strengthen the international bilateral relations that would consequently promote Davao City as a secure investment hub.
Duterte added that CCP will foster greater friendship, understanding, cooperation, and peace among nations.
"This corps was established not simply because Davao City is the largest city in the Philippines. This city is in fact among the fastest growing cities. Despite the shortcomings and formidable challenges, businesses grow rapidly and infrastructure projects are being developed. More countries will eventually send someone to represent their country here." said Hartono in his inaugural speech.
The rest of the founding members are DFA-II officer-in-charge Flora Bacosa, honorary consul of Poland to the Philippines Benjamin Custodion, honorary consul of Spain to the Philippines Francisco Genaro Lon y Ozamis, honorary consul of Palau to the Philippines Federico Puyod, honorary consul of Kazakhstan Dennis A. Uy, consul of Japan to the Philippines Koichi Ibarra, honorary consul of Denmark Rowena Vida-Lisbona, and honorary consul of Czech to the Philippines Guilbert C. Go.
Also present during the induction ceremonies were International Federation of Consular Associations director Vicente J. Carlos, consul general ad honorem of Albania Ceferino L. Benedicto, CCP vice dean George T, Yang, Timor Leste Consul General ad Honorem Armando V. Jimenez, United States of America Vice Consul Kyle Mills, and Davao City tourism and business officials.
