A CITY Hall official said they are planning to establish night markets in various parts of Davao City as the only option to address problems on ambulant vendors.
Retired Colonel Yusop Jimlani, City Mayor's Office-Drainage Management Unit chief and head of the demolition team, said they are looking at Roxas blvd., Sta. Ana Ave., Magsaysay Ave., Agdao and Bankerohan public markets as possible sites for permanent night markets.
"We have already started studying on the establishment of a night market. We have several meetings with the City Tourism Office, City of Administration Office, and other local agencies involve in this project," Jimlani said in Monday's edition of Kapehan sa SM at SM City Davao Annex.
He said they wanted to bring these vendors in one place to sell their products and services.
Jimlani said a study on the feasibility of the project will be conducted by the end of the month before it will be implemented.
He said ambulant vendors have been a "headache" to them especially to those who continued to violate the law.
For instance, he said there are some vendors who have occupied the middle of the street, causing problems with the traffic flow.
