DPWH-Davao's infra program to be completed in 2013-A A +A

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Davao region eyes to finish its Tourism Road Infrastructure Program for 2013 before the year ends.
Of the 15 ongoing projects, 43.03 percent have been completed as of July 31 this year.
This percentage covers each project of the Davao City District Engineering Office (DEO), Davao City 2nd District DEO, Davao del Sur 2nd District DEO, and Davao Oriental 2nd District DEO, as well as the two ongoing projects in Davao del Norte DEO.
DPWH-Davao handles the other nine projects.
A total of P1,487,841,000 have been allocated for the projects in the region.
"Basically this is a partnership with DOT. These roads will allow accessibility to our tourist destinations and also these projects will make our roads more appealing to the tourists. At the same time it will improve the livelihood of the people due to the tourists passing by
in their areas. Secondly it will serve as farm to market roads, which will boost trade in the region." said DPWH Information Assistant Dean I. Ortiz in an interview with Sun.Star Davao.
The project handled by the Davao City DEO has earmarked P44 million for the road reconstruction in G. Porras and Trade School Drive, Bo. Obrero. As of July 31, 83.85 percent have been completed.
As for the Davao City 2nd district DEO, P20 million have been allotted for the upgrading of the Bayabas-Eden Road from asphalt to concrete that is now 98.6 percent completed.
A total of P95 million have been appropriated to the Davao del Norte DEO for the upgrading the roads of Jct. Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) Circumferential Road, Bakbak-Tambo, Igacos; and Del Pilar (San Juan) - New Cortez - San Jose - Carcor Panas in Davao del Norte from gravel to concrete. Both projects are 89.04 percent completed as of July.
The P50 million upgrading of the roads in Barangay Lacaron, Malita from gravel to concrete of the Davao del Sur second district DEO is already 90.11 percent complete.
Meanwhile, the Davao Oriental 2nd DEO have completed 95 percent of their P50 million project in upgrading roads from gravel to concrete and an 18 lm. bridge construction in Fatima - Parola - Cape San Agustin Road, Governor Generoso.
DPWH 11 is spearheading nine projects throughout the region and have been allocated P1,228,841. As of July 2013, 33.08 percent have been completed.
