NEEDLESS to say, Filipinos have the penchant for almost all types of food. This explains why food establishments always come up with promos that will clearly set their mark from the burgeoning restos in the metropolis.
When it comes to feasts, Filipinos are experts on this, and Vikings is one of the best places to go should they want a gastronomic feast.
As what its slogan says "Prepare to feast," Vikings, the country's largest luxury buffet restaurant chain, has truly prepared a feast for their customers with some 260 dishes to choose from a day. Vikings opened for business on September 29, 2013 at SM Lanang Premier.
With a seating capacity of 500, Vikings SM Lanang is "the biggest luxury buffet restaurant" in Davao to date.
"When you say luxurious, we are really luxurious," said Vikings Marketing Manager Charles Stewart Lee.
Its wide selection of foods is not the typical run-of-the-mill food. Steaks, cheesecakes, crepes, maki, pasta, and anything deemed as luxury foods are served there.
"Our food is always fresh, we do it on the day itself. We also create, invent, and develop our own dishes," said executive chef Anton Abad.
The restaurant will also come up with an innovative preparation of some of Davao foods infused with flavors of other cuisines.
"I am developing food with the favorite fruits of Davao, durian and mangosteen. Right now we have Durian barbeque with grilled Salmon," said Chef Abad. He leads the three sous chef and 84 kitchen staff at the Vikings at SM Lanang Premier.
Aside from their dishes, they also feature recipes from Chef Gene Gonzales, who is also their consultant.
To lure in more customers, Abad said that they change their menu on a daily basis.
Dishes at Vikings feature a full course meal of appetizers, main course, and desserts. From the maki, to Italian pasta and pizzas, they have a large variety of foods. Some steak and seafood dishes can be enjoyed straight out of the kitchen.
Customers who want to enjoy their 260 dishes may avail of their promos. First is the birthday promo where the celebrant can avail the buffet for free. Another is the 10+2 promo wherein for every 10 diners, two can eat for free. Finally, the Facebook promo.
"If you like the store's Facebook page you will get a 50 percent off. But you may only avail of it once during the whole opening week," said Lee. Their FB promo will end on October 4.
Davao branch sports a modern Filipino interior design, totally different from the other branches. At the SM Mall of Asia, Vikings features a homey vintage interior, and SM North Edsa with a classic black and white interior.
Lee said they have chosen Davao because of its booming economy, and also they notice that Dabawenyos are foodies.
They plan to open two more branches this year, one at the SM Megamall and Jazz Mall in Makati City. Also, a more upscale counterpart of Vikings, Niu, will soon open at SM Aura Premier this year.
