THE holding of big events like the 22nd Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon) in Davao City largely contributed to the success in taking home two big recognitions from the Philippine Business Conference and Expo in Manila recently, an official of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) said.
In a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao Friday, DCCCII president Arch. Daniel T. Lim said bringing President Benigno Aquino III and members of his Cabinet together in addressing the concerns raised by the business leaders in Minbizcon was a big factor.
The chamber was adjudged as the Most Outstanding Chamber in Mindanao and the Most Outstanding Chamber in the country last October 24, 2013 during the culmination of the Philippine Business Conference and Expo at the Manila Hotel, Manila.
He said the award was given based on its bid they sent to the awarding body from the last quarter of 2012 to 3rd quarter of 2013.
Also included in its bid were the Davao Agriculture Trade Expo 2012 and Investment Conference (ICon) 2012.
In a press release, it said that the "chamber was cited for its outstanding performance in the improvement of business support services, advocacies in economic development, investment generation, Asean RoRo system, road connection to tourism, public-private partnership, partnership with government and membership development."
With the awards, Lim said they were able to boost the chamber's credibility, which also opens more opportunities for DCCCII.
"Opportunities will always be there not just because we are awarded. We hope to continue to boost our chamber in helping the small medium enterprises grow in the city," he said.
The DCCCII serves its members by way of training and getting them involved with the city and other projects like conferences, expos and exhibits to update the technologies in place in agriculture.
He also urged the members to support the chamber by volunteering in their advocacies and participating in their general membership meetings.
