AN ELECTRONICS company is eyeing to expand their operations in Davao City, an official said.
Board of Investment Davao extension office head Gil Dureza said on Monday Philippines-based electronics manufacturer and export company RNM Dynamics Philippines Inc. has considered Davao City for expansion to address increasing market demand for their products in this part of the country.
Dureza said they have suggested to investors to set up their operations at the Three Ridges Integrated Area Development (Triad), which covers barangays Catigan, Eden, and Tagurano.
"These are highland areas and it would be beneficial to them because it will help them lower their cost of production since they can save money on electricity due to the cold weather," Dureza told reporters in an interview at the sidelines of Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Capacity Building Seminar on Project Packaging and Investment Marketing cum Personality Enhancement at Marco Polo Hotel Monday.
He said, for instance, Texas Instruments (Philippines) Inc. in Baguio City was able to save around 35 to 40 percent of their power cost due to the cold weather in the area.
He said they met with company representatives a few weeks ago at the Davao City Investment Promotions Center to discuss about the project.
"They have signified to help us in inviting electronic companies to invest in the city. In the next quarter we will be doing a roadshow for their 25 foreign clients, most of whom are Japanese, in Cebu," Dureza said.
He also said that a week ago, there was a visit by a member of the parliament of Japan who said they will help in bringing electronic companies in the city.
Aside from making the zone an area for electronic companies, a P300 million five-hectare facility, Eagle's View Mountain Resort & Residences, is also being developed in Catigan. It is owned by spouses Francisco and Sofia Gador.
