GIONEE Communication Equipment Co. Ltd. officially opened its first concept store in the Philippines in Davao City on Saturday.

Gionee has partnered with Banana Telecoms Inc., headed by Wilson Wu, in establishing its first concept store which is located at the third floor of Gaisano Mall of Davao, the concept store features Gionee's full line of smartphones.

Katrin Salanga-Gregorio, Gionee Philippines mobile head, said this is one of the three concept stores they will be putting up in the country this year and they will also focus on the expansion of their concept kiosks nationwide.

She said that although this is the first concept store, the product has already been available throughout the Philippines since last year.

In 2013, Gionne launched its flagship smart phone Elife E6 in October 2013 then rolled out the rest of its products GN708, P2, P3, and Elife E3 Blue.

Gionee phones also feature the first software transfer that allows the users to transfer not only basic files but also applications.

"All you need to do is simply shake the phone to transfer the file or application to another Gionee phone, there is no need of data or bluetooth. Gionee phones have Wifi direct and can transfer files within a 20 meter radius," she said.

Gionee is a global brand from China that is present in 50 countries. Gregorio said they are eyeing to expand operations to five to 10 more countries this year.

Former Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has signed with Gionee Philippines as brand endorser for Visayas and Mindanao. Carpio said what liked most about the Gionee phones is the camera.
