THE regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao will undertake five more road improvement and rehabilitation projects in Davao City this year.
These projects have a total budget of P397.74 million, in preparation for the holding of ministerial meetings in the upcoming 2015 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit.
DPWH-Davao public information officer Jose Dennis Y. Flores, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao on Tuesday, said this is the agency's contribution to Davao City's preparation for the upcoming Asian summit.
"One of the mandates of DPWH, being the infrastructure arm of the government, is to make sure that infrastructure in the area is ready and meets the standards. We can help add to the success of the hosting of Apec 2015," he said.
The five projects are the P108-million reconstruction, improvement, and widening of Bacaca road in Barangay 19-B; P105-million asphalt overlay, concreting of additional two lanes of the Maa Road or the Don Julian Rodriguez avenue; P52.88-million rehab, improvement, and widening of Mamay road junction Diversion; P81.86-million widening, rehab, and improvement of Davao Cotabato road (Davao City junction Digos section) including Toril-Inawayan section; and P50-million rehab improvement Toril-Bayabas-Eden road (Bayabas-Eden section).
Flores said four of the five projects have already been bidded out. Only the widening, rehab, and improvement of Davao Cotabato road (Davao City junction Digos section), including Toril-Inawayan section, has not been bidded yet.
Aside from the projects that will be implemented by the regional office, the DPWH-Davao City district engineering office (DEO) will also be implementing a P38.18-million upgrading of asphalt to concrete, construction of drainage structures, curb and gutter, and sidewalk at Leon Maria Guerrero St. junction Fatima to Gaisano Mall and San Pedro Hospital.
